Bryan King believes “something’s not right at Tottenham” amid recent struggles.
The ex-Spurs scout thinks Ange Postecoglou is under pressure in North London, with fans appearing to turn on him after the 1-0 Premier League defeat against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday [5 December].
As reported by TBR Football [6 December], Daniel Levy isn’t yet panicking over Postecoglou’s position, with Tottenham maintaining faith in the 59-year-old.
However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks it will take a great deal for the club to end their trophy drought this season.
“I’m not going to say it is the beginning of the end for Postecoglou,” King said.
“However, he is under pressure. Arguing with the supporters after a defeat is the last thing that you would want as a manager. He has stated that he wins trophies in his second season. It was a bold statement, and it looks as though it is going to take a Herculean act for Postecoglou to turn things around and lead Tottenham to a trophy this season.
“You can forget the Premier League title, they’re 10th in the league. Something’s not right at Tottenham. The players are showing an inconsistency, which is been Spurs’ problem since Postecoglou arrived. They’ll beat big teams, and then lose against teams where they’re expected to get a result.”
Daniel Levy to stick by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?
Spurs have lost six games in the Premier League this season, as many as they have won, and sit 10th in the table. Therefore, it is understandable why fans are unhappy.
Postecoglou has been dealt some tough blows in recent weeks, with multiple injury setbacks derailing any momentum that Spurs have tried to build. As a result, some reinforcements could help, with the club backed to agree a cut-price deal for one £25million-rated defender [via the Telegraph, 2 December].
However, injuries or not, Postecoglou needs to find a way to overcome these obstacles.
Otherwise, Levy’s patience could very quickly start to run out.
In other Tottenham news, Levy is to send a big £40million message to Postecoglou.
