Leeds United’s owners are positioning themselves to carry out an “aggressive” growth plan after announcing the appointments of two new board members.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the latest boardroom reshuffle is likely in a bid to help with the future redevelopment of Elland Road.
A Companies House submission on 23 July revealed Rudy Cline-Thomas has stepped down from his role as vice-chairman.
It has also been announced Andrew Schwartzberg and Eugene Schneur – both of which are part of 49ers Enterprises – have joined the Championship club’s senior leadership team.
American businessman Schwartzberg, who is replacing Cline-Thomas as vice-chairman, is part of the ownership group that holds a majority stake in NBA franchise Charlotte Hornets.
Schneur, meanwhile, has a background in real estate and affordable housing in the US and has joined Leeds as a new director.
Leeds United appointments to help stadium redevelopment
Borson believes there will be some “serious” movement at Elland Road in the years to come if Daniel Farke’s side can secure promotion back to the Premier League after the latest boardroom appointments.
“I think some of them are property guys from what I’ve read,” Borson told Football Insider.
“I think part of it will be about the redevelopment of Elland Road and that area of Leeds.
“I expect Leeds are positioning themselves for a pretty aggressive growth plan.
“They are a one-club city and that gives them a great opportunity to be the focal point of that city. Leeds is a huge city.
“I think Leeds have got some very high-quality people around that board.
“If they can get themselves into the Premier League, you can expect to see some serious movement there.”
