Super Eagles star Iheanacho set for Sevilla medical ahead of La Liga move

Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho is set for a medical ahead of his anticipated move to join seven-time UEFA Europa League champions, Sevilla FC, Soccernet.ng reports. 

Iheancho’s contract with English Premier League club Leicester City expired on June 30, leaving him as a free agent.

Despite his availability, the Nigerian forward has attracted significant interest from various clubs eager to add his creative talents to their squads for the upcoming season.

Iheanacho’s agent has been active in the transfer market, negotiating potential deals, with Sevilla emerging as the frontrunner to secure his signature.

Iheanacho Agrees to Join Sevilla

The former Manchester City forward has piqued the interest of many European clubs looking to bolster their squads with his signature.

Premier League sides Ipswich Town, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest were reportedly interested, as were Turkish clubs Besiktas and Trabzonspor.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Super Eagles star and Sevilla have agreed on a two-year deal.

Iheanacho Set for Medical

Soccernet.ng has been told that if all goes well, the Nigerian international is scheduled to travel to Spain for his medical tonight and will sign with the La Liga giants tomorrow.

An official announcement by the club is expected to follow after the medical and the signing of his contract.

Sevilla has continued to strengthen its bond with Nigerian football by signing Chidera Ejuke and now, with Iheanacho’s imminent transfer, the connection deepens.

This move will reunite Iheanacho with his compatriot Ejuke, similar to his previous partnership with Wilfred Ndidi at Leicester City.
