Tam McManus believes that Rangers fans will be happy that Philippe Clement has been linked with the Belgium job.
The Rangers Review reported on 18 November that the Gers boss is the favourite to take over his national side.
Domenico Tedesco is likely to be sacked by the Belgian FA after poor performances recently in charge of the team.
McManus told PLZ Soccer on 18 November at 39:10: “I think the Rangers supporters would be quite happy as well. I’m not convinced that a lot of Ranger supporters think he’s the man for the job and I think if you can go and you can get money for him.
“I think if he does go I think that the Rangers fans wouldn’t shed a tear I think they’d be they’d be quite happy to get a new manager in a fresh start and maybe get compensation for him.”
Rangers must take proactive steps to replace Philippe Clement
It’s time the Ibrox outfit begin engaging with potential managerial candidates following the news of Clement’s links with the Belgium national team job.
This approach would signal to the manager that the club is prepared to move forward, possibly without him, thereby putting pressure on him to decide his future.
If the Belgian has aspirations of managing his national team, an opportunity that might not recur, knowing Gers are looking elsewhere could expedite his decision-making process.
However, it’s crucial for the club to act discreetly and strategically, as premature moves could disrupt the current managerial setup.
On the other hand, the Belgian FA need to formally approach Rangers if they are serious about appointing Clement.
This would ensure transparency and professionalism in the transfer of managerial responsibilities, should Clement choose to pursue the Belgium role.
In other Rangers news, the club are still paying Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale as a compensation claim has emerged on Philippe Clement.
