TalkSPORT pundit appears to take sly dig at Ange Postecoglou whilst watching Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur have made a really poor start to the Premier League campaign.

Four points from a possible 12 isn’t the start Ange Postecoglou would’ve hoped for and his miseries were compounded on the weekend after Arsenal defeated his side 1-0.

The North Londoners dominated the ball but lacked a real cutting edge in front of goal – which is becoming a common theme.

There is concern about Guglielmo Vicario’s form as he failed to come out to collect the corner which Gabriel nodded in on the weekend.

Set pieces are starting to cause Tottenham real problems and now talkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has appeared to take a sly dig at Postecoglou for his inability to solve the issue.

Gabriel Agbonlahor appears to take sly dig at Ange Postecoglou

Whilst watching Aston Villa’s win over Young Boys earlier this evening, Agbonlahor appeared to take aim at Postecoglou.

“It just shows how important set pieces are,” the former Villa forward said on talkSPORT.

“Some managers don’t believe in it, I won’t name names, but Aston Villa have been struggling so far in this game and finally they score off a set-piece.”

Clearly, set-pieces are an area which Tottenham need to improve on and Postecoglou addressed that speaking in the post-match presser following his side’s defeat to Arsenal.

Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham work on set-pieces ‘all the time’

Postecoglou cut a frustrated figure on the weekend and addressed the concerns around his side’s fragility from set-pieces.

“I know for some reason people think I don’t care about set-pieces, and it’s a narrative that you can keep going on for ages and ages,” the Spurs boss told Sky Sports.

“I understand that. Like I said, we work on them all the time, like we do with every other team.

“You know that they’re a threat. As I said, for the most part we handled them really well today, but we switched off in one and we paid a price. You learn from that and you move on.

“It is what it is. It’s my burden to carry and I’m happy to do that. Like I’ve always said, for me there’s a bigger picture that’s at play here that’s much more important than the finer details of us getting to where we want to.”
