Tam Cowan ridicules Rangers with Elon Musk joke

Tam Cowan has ridiculed Rangers by claiming that Elon Musk is the only man who could “bridge the gap” between them and Celtic.

With Philippe Clement remaining under pressure to retain his position at Ibrox, Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes has been touted as a potential successor.

However, writing in the print edition of the Daily Record (16 November, page 17), Cowan joked American billionaire Musk is the only man who can save the Gers.

“I think Derek’s a smashing manager but, as things stand, there’s only one man who could bridge the gap between Rangers and Celtic,” he said.

“But would Elon Musk want to buy the club?”

Rangers need to find Philippe Clement successor

Although results have somewhat improved over the last week, performances haven’t and it seems only a matter of time as to when Clement faces the sack at Ibrox.

Rangers find themselves nine points behind the league-leading duo of Celtic and Aberdeen having played the same number of games.

Perhaps the only thing keeping the Belgian in a job is the fact that they have reached the Scottish Cup final and are in a steady position in the Europa League.

However, for a club like Rangers, taking into consideration their size of finances, their league position is simply not good enough and failure to improve will continue to cast a shadow of doubt over their future.

With Celtic their opponents in the final, failure to win would almost certainly end the tenure of Clement with the Gers then looking for his replacement, and McInnes may be the best suited to the task at hand.
