Tam McManus: Rangers player in his last season at Ibrox, not in long-term plans of Clement

Tam McManus believes that James Tavernier is in his last season at Rangers and does not see him at the club in 2026.

He is also of the opinion that Danilo is not part of Philippe Clement’s long-term plans along with the club captain.

This comes after Gers narrowly defeated St Johnstone by a 1-0 scoreline over the weekend.

McManus told PLZ Soccer at 7:02: “I think he’s in his last season at Rangers, you know. And, uh, I think that’s just a feel-good for him just now because all two right-backs are injured. But he was bombed out, let’s be honest.

“It’d be the same if Danilo picks up an injury, then somebody else goes in. But I think, long-term, James Tavernier and Dessers are not in Clement’s plans.”

Rangers need to move on from James Tavernier and Danilo

Both Danilo and Tavernier have proven to be extremely unreliable over the last two seasons for the Ibrox outfit.

While one has had issues with his form despite being fit, the other has struggled to even maintain a level of fitness worth of being part of the matchday squad.

For different reasons, it’s understandable why they aren’t considered a long-term part of the club’s plans.

Danilo has half of the season left to prove his worth to the Ibrox outfit, but the same cannot be said about Tavernier.

No matter what he does in the coming months, the ship has sailed and it’s time for the hierarchy to part ways with him.

Hopefully, they can find two quality players to come in if they also decide to part ways with Danilo.
