Alasdair Lamont was blown away by Rangers ace Ianis Hagi after the cross he put into the box for Rangers to take the lead against Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

The attacker ran down the left-hand side of the pitch and delivered a near-perfect ball to the head of James Tavernier who coolly nodded it home.

The Clash ended 6-0 at Ibrox on 4 December, with a flurry of goals coming in the second half of what proved to be a one-sided contest.

Hagi also ended the game with two assists to his name which further proves how pivotal he was in the outcome of the clash.

Speaking live on BBC Radio Scotland (4 December), BBC reporter Lamont shared his thoughts on Hagi’s involvement in the key breakthrough goal.

“It was a terrific delivery from Hagi, and Tavernier was there at the back post as he was at McDiarmid Park,” he said.

Ianis Hagi could be the saviour of Philippe Clement’s job at Rangers

Since the start of the season when Rangers dropped points to Hearts on the opening day of the campaign and when they were defeated 3-0 in the first Old Firm Derby of the season, questions were being asked about the future of Philippe Clement.

Since then, things haven’t got much better and although the Gers have been industrious in the Europa League, most recently thumping Ligue 1 Nice, the Scottish Premiership has always seemed to be a bit of a stumbling block for them.

Hagi has made his way back into the Gers’ team after bargaining about the wage rise he was due for playing 100 games for the Ibrox outfit, and he’s become a key cog for Clement.

While the Belgian may not have been looking for a saviour in the Romanian, it seems that he’s fallen into his lap and, if his form continues, could be owed an awful lot from his manager.

In other Rangers news, Steven Thomson has shared his thoughts on the recent form of Robin Propper.
