'That's why': Stephen Warnock says Liverpool have 'the best' player in his role in the world; he was brilliant tonight

Liverpool have managed to get over the line against RB Leipzig in the Champions League with a 1-0 win at the Red Bull Arena.

The Reds rode their luck at times against the Bundesliga side, but they did enough to triumph as Darwin Nunez bagged a 27th-minute winner.

A long ball to the back post saw Mohamed Salah send a clever header back towards the bottom corner.

Nunez reacted well to poke the ball over the line from a yard out, with the Leipzig defence static.

Liverpool dealt with considerable pressure late on, but Caoimhin Kelleher kept the Reds ahead with some great saves.

For instance, Konate got caught with the ball and Leipzig threatened in the 71st minute.

Xavi Simons fed Benjamin Sesko, who tried his luck with a side-foot finish, but Kelleher reads it and blocks it away.

The Liverpool stopper then did superbly moments later to backtrack and tip Xavi Simons’ deflected effort away from danger.

“Two great saves – that’s why they say Caoimhin Kelleher is the best number two goalkeeper in world football,” Stephen Warnock said on BBC Sport.

“He might have more work to do, because Leipzig are really coming back into this now.”

Meanwhile, Tim Sherwood said on Sky Sports News. “What a save again! He must be the best number two goalkeeper in the league.”

Liverpool now have nine points and need just one more point from their remaining five Champions League matches to confirm a spot in the knockout play-offs at least.
