'The best': Emerson Royal seriously impressed by £25m Tottenham player's display vs Bayern Munich

Tottenham ended up on the losing side after facing Bayern Munich in South Korea.

Spurs’ dominant run in their pre-season friendlies has come to an end, but results have zero impact at the stage of the year.

Ange Postecoglou has a lot of positives to take ahead of their return to North London, where they will face Bayern Munich again on Saturday.

One Tottenham player is expected to start that game after coming on as a substitute against the German giants in Seoul.

Emerson has raved about him.

Emerson Royal says Tottenham teammate Yves Bissouma is ‘the best’

Tottenham started the game against Bayern Munich with a midfield trio of James Maddison, Archie Gray and Pape Matar Sarr.

The latter had a decent first half, but the other two struggled at times.

Postecoglou brought on Yves Bissouma and Lucas Bergvall in place of Gray and Maddison, and Spurs’ midfield immediately looked better.

Bergvall produced an outstanding display and has been earning rave reviews from everyone who watched him in action against the Bundesliga giants.

However, Bissouma deserves some praise too.

The Mali international brought a bit of calmness to the midfield and even assisted Pedro Porro’s goal in the 66th minute of the game.

Bissouma should be happy with his display – Emerson definitely is.

Replying to the midfielder’s post on Instagram, the Brazilian full-back wrote: “The best!”

Bissouma needs to be careful

Tottenham signed Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2022 for an initial £25 million (BBC).

The midfielder had a difficult debut season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He started just 10 games in the Premier League and came under a lot of criticism.

Under Postecoglou in the 2023/24 season, Bissouma looked a lot better. He played many more games and finally showed why Spurs signed him.

Now, with the arrival of Archie Gray, Bissouma will need to be on his toes.

If the former Brighton man gets complacent and fails to perform at the required level, there’s every chance he will be replaced.

That would be a shame as at his best, Bissouma is a fabulous player to have in the team.
