The Esk names most likely winner in Everton takeover race

The Esk has named who is believed to be the most likely winner of the Everton takeover race.

A series of posts on X [12 June] from the Everton finance expert outlined the perceived motive behind Kenneth King, chief executive of A-Cap, potentially bidding for the club after entering into talks with Farhad Moshiri, who will sell his 94.1 per cent majority stake.

It was then stated that Andy Bell and George Downing present the only “credible” alternative at present.

A-Cap, who are linked with the controversy-shrouded 777 Partners, are said by The Esk to be looking to bid to “help secure the loans already made to Everton, for the benefit of A-Cap policyholders”.

The Esk said: “It is more than likely that the idea of a bid is just another mitigating action by King to use in his defence in the Leadenhall case & any subsequent court actions.

“He will possibly make the claim that the offer to buy Everton is a protective advance to help secure the loans already made to Everton, for the benefit of A-Cap policyholders.”

In reply to a supporter on who is most likely to acquire Moshiri’s ownership, it was added: “Bell. Downing, MSD – the only credible bid.”

Everton takeover situation takes another turn

Everton supporters learn of a new development each passing day, but Moshiri knows he must make a call soon and proceed with a bidder.

The A-Cap talks have certainly progressed, though Bell and Downing will have the backing of numerous sections of the fanbase based on the lifelong Blues-supporting background and recent investment from Bell into his new company, Toffee Ventures.

Concerns surrounding A-Cap have come to the fore amid comparisons to 777 – to whom they are inextricably linked – with the Premier League having blocked Moshiri’s favoured bidders from completing a deal having bankrolled the club during much of the 2023-24 season.

After approval is completed and all mandatory processes are boxed off, it was reported earlier on Wednesday (12 June) that it could take until as far away as October for the takeover to finally be secured [The Telegraph].

Everton will be doing their utmost to ensure the saga of uncertainty is not dragged out well into the new Premier League campaign.

In other Everton news, Manchester United may have suffered a blow in their quest to sign Jarrad Branthwaite.
