The Esk shares if Dyche & Thelwell want to leave amid Everton takeover chaos

Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell are “going nowhere” despite the collapse of the Everton takeover, according to The Esk.

The Toffees analyst told the Talking the Blues podcast (20 July) that the Toffees manager now has the “safest job in the English Premier League” after Dan Friedkin walked away from his proposed buy-out of Farhad Moshiri.

He believes that both are indeed happy to continue at Goodison Park and it would be extremely difficult for the club to attract any of the desired replacements if the pair were to depart.

The Friedkin Group has backed out amid concerns over a debt currently owed to A-Cap and previously 777 Partners, telling The Esk they view the issues as “unresolvable”.

Farhad Moshiri needs new Everton buyer after Dan Friedkin exit

Dyche and Thelwell have been in a near-impossible position for most of their time at Goodison Park thanks to the ongoing uncertainty around the ownership situation and everything that comes with it.

The Director of Football has had to attempt to build a squad capable of avoiding relegation from the Premier League for multiple seasons while operating under a financial situation that has forced far more talent to leave than arrive.

Whether he has done a reasonable job of that or not is perhaps open to question but it is hard to argue that Dyche hasn’t ultimately succeeded against the odds.

He has twice kept the club up, and did so last season with room to spare despite a pair of points deductions that were outside his control.

Dissatisfaction over tactics and substitutions are valid but now the new era under Friedkin has been snatched away Moshiri should surely be more worried about the manager resigning than enforcing a change.

Farhad Moshiri must once again pinpoint new prospective owners at Everton.

There is some cash available right now [Alan Myers, 19 July] if he wanted to do so but with no long-term avenues to further funding seemingly open aside from player sales the majority shareholder would be mad to pay off the only manager who has proven he can operate under this unique set of circumstances.

Someone will likely always take the Everton job but the chances of anyone who is actually up to the task coming in when they’ve seen what Dyche is dealing with seems remote.

So if he is content to stay that should come as some relief to Evertonians despite his limitations as answers are searched for once again at the top.

In other Everton news, Paul Joyce reports that the Toffees are now looking to offload another star player after Amadou Onana in the wake of the takeover collapse.
