Archie Gray made his second start for Tottenham Hotspur as a central defender against Rangers and supporters are all in agreement over his display.
Gray is filling in for Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero who are both injured. The Lilywhites are also without the injured Ben Davies leaving Radu Dragusin as their only fit centre-back.
The 18-year-old has already played at left-back, right-back, midfield and now central defence and against the Scottish side his display in his new role left the Tottenham faithful in agreement.
Tottenham fans love Archie Gray’s display vs Rangers
Tottenham fans have been full of praise for Archie Gray’s display at centre-back particularly in the first 45 minutes as he slotted seamlessly into a new role. It’s hard to forget he is a midfield and only just 18 given how well he can fill several positions.
Spurs supporters have been particularly impressed by the teenager’s versatility and composure on the ball at Ibrox. A lot of Ange Postecoglou’s side’s play started with the midfielder looking to play out from the back and his manager will love that.
During the first half, many of the Lilywhites’ fans took to X to share their praise for Gray and the tough job he was being asked to fulfil in Glasgow.
One fans said: “Archie Gray has all my love forever. He’s given everything for us and he’s only been here a few months, he’s so polite too really shows what a lovely guy he is.”
One Spurs fan is keen for him to replace Yves Bissouma in midfield: “We have to replace Bissouma with Archie Gray in midfield permanently. Gray is unreal on the ball… Wow!”
“Archie Gray looks so composed at CB. The team is playing through him,” added another Spurs supporter.
How did Archie Gray play in the first half vs Rangers?
Gray managed to get very involved in the first half as he managed 48 touches and attempted 42 passes. He proved key in Tottenham’s build-up, which was especially important given how poor Radu Dragusin can be on the ball. Given his age and the fact he is prominently a midfielder, it was an impressive half of football from the youngster.

Postecoglou will be hoping that Gray can keep proving himself in central defence until the January window opens and Spurs can finally bring in another option. Ashley Phillips could be re-called from his loan at Stoke with the North London club considering taking up their option to bring him back.
