Tottenham fans have been raging at PGMOL Chief Operating Officer Howard Webb’s analysis of Moises Caicedo’s foul against Pape Matar Sarr this past Sunday (8 December).
Spurs were beaten by Enzo Maresca’s side 4-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but supporters were made that Chelsea didn’t go down to 10 men after Caicedo caught Sarr with his studs up.
Webb told Sky Sports, “A yellow card should have been shown, in the end, Caicedo received no disciplinary sanction for that action, his actions are reckless.
“I know there was talk about the possibility of this being a red card, some people thought it was, for me it’s not a red card. For me, this is a situation where Moises Caicedo goes to swing to kick a ball which is kicked away from him by Pape Sarr.”
Webb determined that the foul was reckless but not serious foul play due to the lack of excessive force involved, which stopped it from being a red card.
Tottenham are furious with Howard Webb
Tottenham supporters were fuming with Anthony Taylor in the moment when he didn’t award a red card, and Webb’s analysis of the situation hasn’t cooled those temperatures.
Fans have claimed that Webb’s comments are “laughable and disgraceful at the same time” as they continue to disagree with the situation.
