'Tougher test' - Alan Shearer predicts result of Everton v Fulham clash

Alan Shearer has backed Everton and Fulham to share the spoils when the two sides meet at Goodison Park on 26 October.

The former Newcastle striker admits that it will be a tougher test for Sean Dyche’s men as compared to the game against Ipswich Town.

With that result, the Toffees find themselves in 16th place and have eight points from eight games.

Shearer told the Metro: “I mentioned Everton’s experienced win over Ipswich last week, and whilst this will be a tougher test, I think it could be a draw, and that wouldn’t be bad for both teams.

“Fulham are coming off a defeat to Villa, but they missed a penalty at 1-1 and the game may have played out differently.”

Everton can surely seal the three points against Fulham at Goodison Park

A win for the Toffees against Fulham could significantly boost their standing in the Premier League, levelling them with their opponents on points, considering they are currently in 10th place with 11 points.

Everton’s recent form under Sean Dyche shows signs of stabilisation, with a particular emphasis on defensive solidity, especially highlighted by their clean sheets in October.

However, facing Fulham, who have had a more promising start to the season, presents a unique challenge.

Their offensive ability means Everton’s defence, particularly with the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, if he plays the full game, will be crucial.

Branthwaite’s physical presence and aerial dominance could neutralise Fulham’s attacking threats, possibly leading the hosts to a crucial victory.

Such a result would not only lift their morale but also tighten the mid-table race, showcasing the unpredictable nature of the Premier League.

In other Everton news, a director at a big-name European club is likely to join the Toffees board post The Friedkin Group takeover.
