English Premier League side, Everton, are plotting a move to sign AC Milan and Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze, in the January transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sean Dyche’s side are currently 16th in the Premier League and are struggling in attack, scoring nine goals from their opening eight games.
Chukwueze on the other hand, has largely, been second fiddle to Christian Pulisic on the right hand of Milan’s attack as the American has been in good form, leaving the ex-Villareal man to just two starts in all competitions for the Rossoneri.
As per Football Insider, the Everton hierarchy are in the transfer market for a right-winger during the next transfer window, targeting Chukwueze as their primary target. However, it is also understood that a deal for the winger will be difficult to accomplish in the upcoming transfer window.
It is unlikely that Milan will allow the Nigerian winger to leave mid-season, and the Toffees, in response to this are also eyeing a move for Bologna forward, Santiago Castro, keeping the Argentine as another option.
Financially, a move for Chukwueze will hold no barring effects on the Merseysiders as they have plenty of cash to splash as The Friedkin Group are expected to financially back the manager when the transfer window opens.
The Friedkin Group are in the process of purchasing Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in the Merseyside giants, and they are awaiting the final steps before the takeover is made official.
The expected new owners envision Everton as a club that should be above relegation battles and therefore want to spend as much as possible to strengthen the squad on every front.
Everton currently sit 16th in the Premier League table after a difficult start to the season that has seen them win just one of their opening seven fixtures.
