Dan Friedkin will probably have to deal with Steven Schumacher’s interest in the Everton job post the takeover.

With no decision made yet on the future of Sean Dyche and with the takeover still two months from completion, The Friedkin Group have a lot of time to assess things.

They may be approached by Schumacher, a former Toffees player and ex Stoke City manager, who has publically expressed an interest in the job and Friedkin must be upfront with him and not entertain the idea.

Steven Schumacher confirms interest in the Everton job

He told 72+: The EFL Podcast, as quoted by Everton News: “I haven’t come out of it thinking I need a break. I feel as though if anything, it’s given me a little bit more fuel, a bit more fire in my belly.

“I want be a manager in the Premier League, my dream job is the Everton job.”

While the 40-year-old may have an EFL League One Manager of the Season 2022–23 award to his name, the Goodison Park job may be too soon for him.

Maurizio Sarri seems a potential option for Everton

The Friedkins will likely be looking for a manager whose stature is even bigger than Dyche’s with Maurizio Sarri understood to be their preferred option. [TEAMtalk, 26 September]

For Schumacher to be genuinely considered for the Everton job, he must exhibit significant managerial success, particularly in transforming a team with limited resources into a competitive force.

This includes achieving consistent top-half finishes, potentially securing a cup or challenging for promotion if in a lower league and demonstrating tactical innovation with player development.

His ability to manage expectations, handle pressure and adapt to changes will be crucial.

Additionally, if he can play a good style of football and promote players from within, the fans will quickly take to him, making him a popular option, but that is unlikely to be the case for the next two or three years.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are now guilty of yet another rule breach and have taken action with the images removed.
