Everton have been on the hunt for players throughout the transfer window to improve their team across the board.

One of the key areas within the squad that needs reinforcement is the striker position.

Although Everton have both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto within their ranks, the duo performed below-par last season.

Beto was brought in as an understudy to the Englishman but he failed to have much of an impact.

The former Udinese man has since been linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce and Bologna ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Although the 26-year-old failed to have much of an impact on the results Sean Dyche’s men managed to grind out, a replacement is still needed.

Hence why Che Adams was linked with a move to Goodison Park [Birmingham World, 4 July] earlier in the window.

Since then there have been a plethora of clubs vying for the transfer of the former Southampton man but Fabrizio Romano has now reported on Monday (22 July) that Adams has now signed a three-year deal with Torino.

Everton now need to look at other attacking options

Adams is one of many number nines that have been linked with the Merseyside club this summer and now that his transfer is seemingly off the cards, they’ll no doubt be turning their attention elsewhere.

Wingers seem to be at the top of the priority list for Dyche this summer with Alan Myers even reporting on 20 July that as many as two could arrive at the club this summer.

Iliman Ndiaye has already been welcomed to Goodison Park but he’s more of a number 10 than an out-and-out striker.

Calvert-Lewin has also been linked with transfers away but nothing seems to have come to fruition as of yet.

Jesper Lindstrom is another name that has been consistently mentioned with a move to Everton in addition to Leeds United ace Willy Gnonto [Planet Sport, 17 July].

Should a move be made for one of the aforementioned two then it would show that the Toffees really mean business this term, though as both are wing options it means Dyche might still need a rethink when it comes to centre-forward targets.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are set to face new competition for transfer target, Arthur Melo.
