Rangers have undergone a lot of change across the summer transfer window, with Philippe Clement finding it extremely difficult this season so far.

Several big names on massive wages such as John Lundstram and Borna Barisic have both left Ibrox with youngster options like Jefte and Connor Barron coming in to try and fill the void.

One man who didn’t get his exit during the transfer window, however, was James Tavernier. The captain was consistently linked with a move away but nothing came to fruition.

Despite the Gers’ transfer window now being closed, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are both still vying for his transfer with Besiktas even “accelerating” their efforts to sign the right-back [Fotomac].

This is why it didn’t come as much of a surprise when the Bears were linked with a move for free agent defender, Cyrus Christie [HITC, 7 September].

What Cyrus Christie could bring to Rangers

Described as “magnificent” by former Hull manager Liam Rosenior, Christie may well be 31 years old but he still has a lot of desire to be the best he can be.

The defender made 27 appearances across all competitions for the Yorkshire outfit last season and he even managed to chip in with two assists.

Across the entirety of his career, the Irishman has rarely had any injury problems.

His most severe did come last season when he missed a total of 10 games but before his hamstring strain, the last time the defender was sidelined due to injury was the 2016/17 campaign when he broke his foot.

Not only would he be able to provide further defensive stability to the defence at Ibrox but he would also be someone that Clement could likely rely upon each week.

Christie has spent the vast majority of his career between both the Premier League and the Championship but has also had some experience in League One near the start of his professional career.

Should Tavernier exit Ibrox in the coming weeks, the Gers wouldn’t go far wrong by welcoming Christie to their ranks in response.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement has been backed to win the Gers’ fan’s support once again.
