The Friedkin Group may be in a position to offer Jarrad Branthwaite a mammoth contract extension at Everton.
Branthwaite is approaching the final two years of his contract at Goodison Park and is willing to put pen to paper on fresh terms, according to the Daily Mail (28 December).
As things stand, Everton are unsure on whether they can match Branthwaite’s reported £130,000-a-week wage demands.
However, TFG has already begun implementing plans to increase the commercial revenue on Merseyside and could soon be able to exceed the defender’s request.
Jarrad Branthwaite must hold tight for eye-watering Everton extension
The Telegraph reported on Saturday (28 December) that TFG are planning to transform the £500million Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium into an “NFL-style” arena to maximise as much advertising space as possible.
It could potentially bring in multiple-millions of pounds to the club, which has simply not ever been the case at Goodison Park.
Furthermore, the American consortium is exploring the possibility of selling the naming rights to the venue – football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes the Toffees could receive £200m from a naming rights deal alone.
Dan Friedkin is also utilising his relationship with bank JP Morgan to work towards paying off the approximated £800m debt left over from the Farhad Moshiri era.
Everton have 12 first-team stars in the final year of their contracts on Merseyside, and with news yet to emerge on who will be offered an extended stay, Sean Dyche is set to receive hundreds of thousands of pounds in the wage budget to work with.
The immediate focus should be on offering Branthwaite a long-term contract extension, which he cannot refuse, and comfortably make the centre-back the highest earner at Goodison Park.
With Manchester City, Manchester City and Liverpool all monitoring the situation, the Premier League trio can easily blow the £130,000-a-week demands out of the water.
Branthwaite has single-handedly helped the Toffees revive their league campaign since his return to the side – TFG need to send a statement of intent to the Premier League and justly reward the 22-year-old for his contributions to the side.
In other Everton news, 10,000 supporters will be invited to the Blues new stadium as the first team to play at Bramley-Moore Dock has been named.
