Jamie Donley brought back long-gone memories about Harry Kane to Tottenham after what he did at the weekend.
Kane ended his 19-year association with Spurs by joining Bayern Munich last year. As the top scorer in the Bundesliga, he is enjoying his time in Bavaria by all means.
Back in North London, the question remains – will there be another one like the England captain?
Having a £65million signing in Dominic Solanke try to emulate Kane’s Tottenham form is not bad, but there is a certain amount of joy a fan gets when they see a young player come through the ranks at their club and go all the way to the top.
It is for that reason that supporters look at each pass and dribble 17-year-old Mikey Moore makes with excitement.
Away from Spurs, Donley is making an attempt to emulate Kane in his own ways. On Saturday, he took his first step towards that.
Jamie Donley emulates Harry Kane away from Tottenham
The 19-year-old scored his first senior goal in Leyton Orient’s 4-0 victory over Barnsley on 21 December.
Donley is spending his first season away on loan from Spurs and it took him 13 games to get the feeling of finding the back of the net.
But, once he did, the attacker went all out, adding two assists to his tally.
“Jamie Donley, for a young kid who wants to play football, I thought was outstanding”, manager Richie Wellens told the media after the game.
Interestingly, Leyton are the first club went out on loan to during his time in North London. Like Donley, he scored his first senior goal for The Os, although it took him only two games to do it.
The Englishman spent the second half of the 2010-11 season at Leyton and bagged five goals in 18 League One appearances.
Those numbers would not have turned heads, but they certainly set the ball rolling for Kane to become one of the greatest players in Tottenham’s history.
Of course, it would be irresponsible to place similar expectations on Donley – after all, there is another Spurs player on loan at Leyton who has achieved a similar feat.
Nevertheless, his goal on Saturday would have definitely invoked a sense of deja vu in N17.
Having scored his first senior goal, the left-footer will be keen to add more to his tally, which will hopefully be the case in the coming weeks.
In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou has been warned that four Spurs players could never player for him again.
