View: Tottenham offer new contract to emerging striker who's playing beyond his years

Tottenham Hotspur are taking the right measures in looking to secure one of their top prospects, striker Dexter Oliver.

According to Lilywhite Rose on Instagram [12 December], Oliver – who is currently still at school but has debuted for the Under-18 side – has been presented with a two-year scholarship offer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

If Oliver signs the deal, he will secure the next two years as a scholar with Spurs’ U18s on a full-time basis, a huge progression for both himself and the club.

Tottenham pathway shows great appeal for youngsters

At present, Tottenham are offering an excellent pathway to young talent, having been forced to maintain a high standard with the competition of fellow London academies.

Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear are currently two who are hot property, with Spurs having scooped the Premier League 2 crown last season – essentially the Under-21 league title.

Oliver has been in fine form playing beyond his years for the U18s of late, having scored both goals in last month’s Premier League Cup win at Leicester City, and claimed two assists in a 3-3 draw with Chelsea a week later.

He can operate both as a centre-forward and out wide, a versatility which will be vital for his personal progress moving forward.

The competition the likes of Oliver and those in his age group face comes with the financial scope Tottenham have to be able to cherry-pick established young players, such as Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, both 18 and regulars in the first-team matchday squad.
