View: Tottenham teen has dream week as new rising star emerges for Ange Postecoglou

A new star has emerged for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham after Malachi Hardy made back-to-back first-team squads this week.

The 16-year-old is very highly regarded at Hotspur Way as revealed by insider John Wenham on X.

The centre-back made the substitutes bench for the 4-0 victory against Manchester City last Saturday (23 November) and the 2-2 draw with Roma in the Europa League (28 November).

Dream week for 16-year-old Tottenham prodigy

Born in Watford, approximately 20 miles away from Spurs’ home stadium, the youngster has been at the club since he was eight-years-old and may get the chance to make his senior debut in the near future.

He would have been the youngest player to represent the Lilywhites in the Premier League had he came off the bench in the City match, a record currently held by Mikey Moore when he replaced James Maddison in the defeat to Manchester City at the end of last season (14 May).

Hardy has started all but two of the under-18s matches so far this season helping the young Spurs to third-place in the Premier League two.

He has also captained England under-17s four times in seven appearances including in the recent fixtures against Malta and Sweden in their European Championship qualifying campaign.

The young star will have to be patient for an opportunity to make his first team debut but Christian Romero and Micky van de Ven injured, Ashley Phillips out on loan at Stoke and Luka Vuskovic not joining until the summer he may get the chance sooner than expected.
