Wenham expects La Liga club to sign award-winning Tottenham loanee in £12m+ deal

John Wenham believes a La Liga club will sign on-loan Tottenham forward Bryan Gil permanently after his bright start to life with Girona.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims clubs in Spain should be able to afford the winger.

Gil signed a contract extension with Tottenham which includes a £12.8million release clause before heading to Girona on a season-long loan (Fabrizio Romano via X, 29 July).

As per Girona’s official Instagram (14 September), Gil has been named the club’s Player of the Month.

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – will be glad to see the 23-year-old leave North London permanently.

“Gil has made a bright start to life with Girona,” Wenham said.

“He is playing a lot of football over there and clearly doing well. Therefore, if Girona don’t activate the £12.8million release clause, which is fairly low, I’m sure another La Liga club will.

“It is definitely affordable and I’ll be pleased to see him leave the club permanently.”

Bryan Gil to seal permanent exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Gil appears to be doing well in Spain. However, he has already proven himself in La Liga before.

Therefore, this recent form won’t come as a surprise to anybody. It is clear that the Spaniard is not cut out for life in the Premier League or English football, no matter how well he does for Girona.

As a result, it is hard to see Gil changing Ange Postecoglou’s mind about him.

Therefore, for Gil, it is all about playing well on loan with Girona and securing a permanent exit from Spurs.
