'What I've heard...' - Stevie Clifford claims Rangers player has now jetted out for a medical

Rangers defender Connor Goldson has headed out to Cyprus for a medical, according to Four Lads Had a Dream’s Stevie Clifford.

Speaking to the Rangers Review YouTube channel on 22 July, Clifford claims that despite him flying there, it doesn’t mean he’s going to be joining a Cypriot club.

However, there is still a lack of clarity over whether or not a bid has been accepted.

18:53: “What I’ve heard is he’s flying out to take a medical but it doesn’t necessarily mean that the team he’s flying out to plays in Cyprus. I’m waiting to find out more if he’s at that stage that means we’ve accepted a bid if that means he’s accepted a contract. You don’t do a medical before any of that happens.”

Rangers must cash in on Connor Goldson this summer

Gers’ decision to part ways with Goldson could be a strategic move to rejuvenate their defence.

The 31-year-old has been a stalwart for the club, making over 300 appearances since joining in 2018.

However, his recent form has been under scrutiny, with Philippe Clement even dropping him at the end of last season.

Goldson’s departure could pave the way for new talent to emerge, such as Leon King, who has shown promise.

It also allows Rangers to reinvest the funds from Goldson’s sale into strengthening other areas of the squad.

This move aligns with the club’s philosophy of maintaining a competitive edge and ensuring that the team remains dynamic and forward-thinking.

Furthermore, Goldson’s departure could be a mutual decision, considering his age and the potential for a lucrative contract elsewhere.

This would allow Gers to manage their wage bill more effectively and potentially secure a younger, long-term replacement.

In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the Ibrox outfit’s quest to sign a ‘Fantastic’ attacker with initial moves already made.
