Wilson shares 'Extremely Harsh' verdict on Rangers ace, team he joined from are now better

Fraser Wilson believes Aberdeen’s midfield is now “much better” without Rangers ace Connor Barron in it.

The midfielder was signed in the summer by Philippe Clement’s side after his Dons contract expired as a replacement for John Lundstram.

Speaking on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (22 October), journalist Wilson shared his thoughts on Barron’s impact since arriving at Ibrox.

“Connor Barron, this is may be extremely harsh, but I think maybe Aberdeen’s midfield is much better now that they’ve replaced him,” Wilson said.

“I just think right through the important engine room of that team, there’s problems and they need a massive improvement on Thursday night [against FCSB] to stand a chance.”

Connor Barron needs to help Rangers midfield improve their performances

If we’re being honest, not much has gone Rangers’ way this season.

Granted, their 2-0 win against Malmo and the unbeaten streak they went on before losing 4-1 to Lyon in the Europa League were undoubtedly the highlights of their season but aside from that, things haven’t gone as intended.

The Gers are currently third in the Scottish Premiership with six points separating themselves, Aberdeen and Celtic.

At the start of the season, Philippe Clement’s men were expected to be challenging for the title and were predicted to be right on the heels of their arch-rivals but at the moment, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Several of the Gers’ players have been poor this season but more often than not it’s their engine room that gets the most stick.

If Rangers want to be taken seriously in the title race this term, Barron and his midfield teammates will have to find a solution to their woes soon otherwise it could be too late.

The best way for Clement’s men to start their rebuild and perhaps ease some pressure off their shoulders would be by winning against FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday (24 October).

In other Rangers news, a BBC reporter has shared what Clement must do to avoid being sacked.
