Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has told his former employers to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Manchester United have been struggling in the final third for the past two seasons. In the Premier League last season, they registered 57 goals, the lowest in the top ten. Most of their forwards were off the pace for most of the season, with the top striker Rasmus Hojlund registering ten goals in the Premier League.
In they summer, they moved for Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee to add some bite to their attack. However, he has struggled to fit into the club.
This season, they have registered just five goals from their six Premier League games. And former Manchester United forward Saha believes that this has been their bane this season. He has urged the club to try to sign a striker in the mode of Osimhen.
“I don’t know if it’s a realistic option, because he (Osimhen) is on loan at Galatasaray, but if you’re talking about a proven goal scorer with pedigree, he is the man. He would instantly improve the team,” Saha said, per the Daily Star.
“If you signed Osimhen, you’re not signing potential. You know exactly what he is going to give you.
“A striker like Osimhen is exactly the kind of signing that Manchester United need to make. If it takes a lot of money, and it will to sign Osimhen, you go and do it.”
Manchester United were heavily linked to Osimhen last year, but they opted for Hojlund instead. Now the Nigerian hitman is on a season-long at Galatasaray.
If the Red Devils can put a good offer on the table, they would be a able to secure his services in January or afterwards.
