Youssef Chermiti has admitted he doesn’t know what his future holds at Everton after a difficult spell due to injury.
The 20-year-old has missed the majority of this season with a foot injury that has kept him out on the sidelines and unable to build upon the 18 appearances he made last term.
The forward has been available again of late and has spent the last two games on the bench for the Toffees, but he has not got the call-up for a runout.
With the January transfer window nearly upon us, Chermiti has admitted there haven’t been conversations about his future, as he told The Athletic: “We haven’t spoken about my future yet, so I don’t know.
“We’ll see what happens in January. I’m ready to play again. My target is still the same — get more minutes, score goals and make the Toffees happy.”
Youseff Chermiti ready to prove himself at Everton
Chermiti isn’t too sure what his future holds at the minute but given there haven’t been any conversations about it between himself and Everton, it suggests he is safe at Goodison Park for now.
Furthermore, his involvement on the bench in the last two games shows that Sean Dyche is eager to give the player an opportunity again after his injury issues that kept him out of the squad.
Unfortunately with the Toffees’ run of fixtures at the moment, it’s hard for Dyche to bring a striker onto the bench to get too stuck in with solid defensive performances allowing them to gain points against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Nevertheless, the 20-year-old should look ahead to the new year with optimism in the hope that he will be given a chance and if he can prove himself then the Blues will surely be keen to keep him.
In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has been backed for a new role under TFG.
