Everton could be a threat to West Brom keeping hold of manager Carlos Corberan, according to Chris Lepkowski.

The journalist and former Baggies head of media responded to a fan via X on 22 September to agree that the Spaniard “absolutely” might be a candidate to take over at Goodison Park in the event that Sean Dyche leaves, although he suggested David Moyes is more likely.

Corberan’s West Brom currently top the Championship table despite operating in severely straitened circumstances financially, and according to the Sunday Mirror‘s print edition on 22 September both Southampton and Leeds United are interested.

To the suggestion that Everton were a concern he replied: “Absolutely. A big club if somebody can sort them out – more so given the new stadium & revenue that will generate.

“The players they have should see them home with a better manager (I don’t think Dyche is a bad manager as it happens, but not working).

“Moyes may be one for there?”

Everton more likely to bring back David Moyes?

Moyes certainly seems to be lining himself up as a candidate if Dyche is relieved of his duties after a Richard Keys-assisted pitch for the nostalgia vote live on beIN Sports this Sunday (22 September).

And according to TBR Football on 5 September the former Toffees boss, out of work since his West Ham contract wasn’t extended in the summer, will be considered if a change is made.

But on paper Corberan should probably be somewhere near the top of the list at Goodison, if in fact Farhad Moshiri or the interim board are even considering a switch in the dug-out before a takeover is sealed.

The Championship may not be the Premier League but in terms of financial concerns and ownership chaos there are plenty of parallels between the Toffees and the Baggies in recent years [Kieran Maguire].

Everton could be a threat to West Brom over Carlos Corberan.

West Brom’s purgatory under Guochuan Lai may be over while Evertonians are still waiting for theirs under Moshiri to end, but on the pitch fortunes have been very different since Corberan arrived at The Hawthorns.

Despite operating on a similar shoestring budget the Spaniard took a side which looked destined for League One under Steve Bruce, turned them into a Play-Off calibre outfit, and so far this term has them top of the pile while bringing about major improvements in multiple players.

There have to be significant doubts over whether he would consider leaving, having shunned interest from Leeds previously, but he appears to have produced the blueprint for what Everton need at West Brom.

In other Everton news, a journalist was left shocked by late Jarrad Branthwaite drama on his return from injury.
