Alan Myers issues 'Final Decision' claim as Everton takeover gathers pace

Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers claims that there is still work to do before a final decision is reached regarding the Everton takeover.

Myers took to X on 22 August that things are progressing on the front but it’s not at a stage where it’s close.

This comes after American John Textor is understood to be confident of completing the takeover of the Toffees and there is an expectation of an agreement being reached by the end of the week. [Guardian]

Myers wrote: “Think it’s a way off any final decision but it is moving forward.”

Textor and his team will now likely be engaging in detailed negotiations with Farhad Moshiri, focusing on the club’s valuation, restructuring debts and operational logistics, alongside comprehensive due diligence to assess the financial state and ongoing projects like the new stadium.

Following an agreement in principle, the deal must navigate regulatory hurdles, including the Premier League’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test, which could delay proceedings due to Textor’s existing football interests.

Fan engagement will be crucial, with efforts to communicate the new vision and manage expectations amidst historical ownership tensions.

Under Moshiri’s stewardship, the club was extremely isolated from the average match-going fan and that’s not how it should be.

Post-takeover, a transition period will ensue, where new management strategies will be put into action, potentially with new board members or executive roles being filled.
