John Textor could sell Palace shares at discount to accelerate Everton takeover - report

John Textor is willing to sell his stake in Crystal Palace for a discounted price to accelerate his purchase of Everton, according to The Guardian.

Writing on their website [22 August], the outlet reported that Textor is considering two offers and has concrete interest from four other investors for his 45 per cent shares in Crystal Palace.

The American was granted a period of exclusivity earlier this month [Alan Myers] and has been on Merseyside for further talks with Everton owner Farhad Moshiri to finalise a deal by the end of the week.

Everton takeover saga is set for resounding conclusion

For Everton fans, the end is in sight. Once Textor finalises the sale of his shares in Crystal Palace, he will be free to pursue a takeover of the club.

It has been a long and gruelling process for Moshiri. Talks with 777 Partners and the Friedkin Group, who also entered exclusivity talks, ended in disappointment and prompted the Blues owner to set an eight-week deadline for a sale to be finalised [Stefan Borson].

While once prospective owners 777 Partners endure financial problems, Textor has a proven track record in Premier League ownership. He has invested approximately £150m in Crystal Palace during a period that has seen their value soar to £624m [Forbes].

The Blues’ troublesome financial situation and struggles with Profit and Sustainability rules have been well-documented but Textor is no fool.

Everton can become a financial powerhouse under the right ownership, with a fiercely loyal fan base and the potential commercial revenue of the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium that could reach £300m per annum.

While Sean Dyche focuses on improving results on the pitch in the final season at Goodison Park, the future is starting to look bright with Textor set to end Moshiri’s reign on the blue half of Merseyside.
