Alan Myers issues fresh Everton takeover update as bid reportedly made by billionaire

Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers has claimed that there are parties other than John Textor keen on completing the Everton takeover.

Myers issued an update after it was learned on 9 August that Crystal Palace co-owner Textor, an American billionaire, had tabled an offer to buy the club. [Guardian]

It’s also revealed that while Textor’s interest is genuine, some of the reporting surrounding his attempts to buy the club is premature.

Myers wrote on X: “There are a few interested.”

Everton cannot afford any more uncertainty surrounding the takeover

The Toffees have been seeking new ownership for some time and have experienced multiple failed takeover attempts, most recently with the Friedkin Group withdrawing from negotiations.

This situation has left the club and its supporters in a state of limbo, with critical decisions regarding the club’s future and financial stability being delayed.

Farhad Moshiri has rightly been criticised for granting exclusivity to potential buyers who ultimately fail to complete the purchase.

This approach has led to wasted time and resources, further exacerbating the uncertainty surrounding the club’s future.

Moshiri’s inability to secure a successful sale has also led to questions about his leadership and the club’s financial stability.

The prolonged uncertainty is damaging to Everton’s ability to plan for the future, both on and off the pitch.

It has a direct impact on the club’s ability to attract and retain players, as well as on the morale of the club’s staff and supporters and it thus needs to end soon.
