The Friedkin Group is “fully concentrating” on completing their takeover at Everton rather than discussing a replacement for Sean Dyche, Alan Myers has said.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on 25 November that while plenty of change is anticipated once Dan Friedkin takes the reins at Goodison Park, no discussions have been held with regards to sacking Dyche.
Friedkin is instead committing his full focus to passing the Premier League’s ownership processes and getting administrative positions ready ahead of an expected completion date of mid-December.
Myers said: “Many see the change of ownership as a point where the manager’s position will be under severe threat.
“But from what I understand, there have been no discussions in that regard, or about possible replacements, despite the speculation to the contrary.
“I’m told TFG are fully concentrating on completing the Premier League ownership process and getting their administration positions lined up ahead of a mid-December deal completion.”
Dan Friedkin arrival gives Sean Dyche safety for now at Everton
It’s understandable that Friedkin is focusing his priorities away from the managerial dugout as he prepares to hit the ground running at Goodison Park, with plenty of other issues to address first.
Farhad Moshiri’s departure will see a thrown-together board of close associates follow him out of the door [Ian Herbert, 13 October], with positions such as chief executive officer needing to be filled once Friedkin pitches up.
While replacements in these off-field areas have already been mooted, so too have possible alternatives to Dyche if Friedkin does decide to pull the trigger within his first few weeks in charge.
The January transfer window arrives within days of Friedkin’s expected takeover being completed, and that gives Dyche a chance to strengthen an under-strength, underperforming squad at Finch Farm.
Potential reinforcements have been identified, but with Friedkin having links to several top-class players and managers alike, it’s a wonder how long Dyche will be given to make any new signings work.
