Leicester considering former Manchester United and Chelsea bosses for next manager

Leicester City are considering the likes of Graham Potter, David Moyes and Ruud van Nistelrooy as replacements for the sacked Steve Cooper.

The Foxes are 16th in the Premier League table after a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday, which proved to be Cooper’s last game in charge.

The former Nottingham Forest manager only took over in the summer, replacing Enzo Maresca after the now Chelsea boss earned promotion from the Championship with Leicester.

The Welshman was only give 12 league games in charge and despite not being in the relegation zone he has been dismissed.

The two leading contenders to replace him, according to the bookmakers, are former Chelsea boss Potter and the recent Manchester United interim manager Van Nistelrooy.

Potter has been approached by Leicester twice before and he spurned their advances on both occasions.

Mail Sport report that another move for Potter was made on Sunday but he is still not entirely convinced that he fancies the gig at the King Power.

Van Nistelrooy put himself forward for the job over the summer when Cooper replaced Maresca and his stock has since risen.

The Dutchman stepped in at Manchester United when Erik ten Hag was dismissed, winning three and drawing one of his four games in interim charge.

New manager Ruben Amorim chose not to keep the former striker on his coaching staff and he is now keen to get back into management.

Former Red Devils, West Ham and Everton manager David Moyes has also been touted as a possible replacement for Cooper.

Other names considered to be candidates, although relatively long-shots, are the likes of Carlos Corberan, Michael Carrick and Mark Robins.

Corberan and Carrick are currently in charge of West Brom and Middlesbrough respectively in the Championship.

Robins was dismissed as Coventry City manager earlier this month so it would be a big shock if he was to step up to his first Premier League job immediately after that.
