Liverpool weren’t all that busy during the summer transfer window.
The Reds made just two major signings in the summer, but, by keeping their powder dry in the summer, they’ve potentially freed up a bit more cash for the future.
Liverpool summer signings | Fee |
Federico Chiesa | £10m |
Giorgi Mamardashvili | £35m |
Liverpool have been linked with plenty of potential signings going forwards.
Martin Zubimendi remains a Liverpool target, while Liverpool are also keen on Milos Kerkez.
Speaking on The Weekend Wrap, Tim Sherwood has been discussing Tyler Dibling’s performance against Liverpool at the weekend, and he says that the Southampton youngster could be the next player Liverpool bring in.
Liverpool tipped to sign Tyler Dibling
Sherwood spoke about Dibling after his eye-catching performance against Liverpool.
At the age of just 18, Dibling is starring in the Premier League, and Sherwood believes he could be a potential superstar.
Liverpool have a history of signing players from Southampton, and Sherwood reckons Dibling could be next.
“Dibling is the man, this boy, he’s playing against they’re usually their feeder club aren’t they Southampton for Liverpool? He will probably be their next signing. I don’t know when that will be, he’s only 18 years of age, but he’s ready to step up, already you know there is a superstar in the making there,” Sherwood said.
Liverpool’s signings from Southampton
Sherwood says that Liverpool have a history of signing Southampton’s top talents, and he’s not wrong.
Indeed, over the years, Liverpool have signed numerous Southampton players, and they’ve all worked out quite well.
Liverpool signings from Southampton Fee Virgil van Dijk £75m Sadio Mane £37m Nathaniel Clyne £15m Adam Lallana £25m Dejan Lovren £20m Rickie Lambert £5m
Some of Liverpool’s best ever signings have been from Southampton.
Virgil van Dijk is now the club captain, while Sadio Mane is a bona fide legend.
Meanwhile, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren all left behind solid enough Anfield legacies.
Rickie Lambert may be the one exception to the rule in that he wasn’t a great signing for the Reds, but at just £5m, that wasn’t a huge blow.
Dibling could well be the next player to make the move from St Mary’s to Anfield, and who knows? Perhaps he will be a Liverpool star in the future.
One thing is for sure, Dibling is certainly good enough to make a move to a top Premier League club in the near future.
