The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United will have the opportunity to strengthen their ranks when the January transfer window opens in just a few days.
Arsenal could do with potentially strengthening their attacking ranks, while Liverpool may need to work on their strength in depth going forward.
As for Manchester United, there’s a lot of work for the club’s board and Ruben Amorim to do in order to pull themselves out of their current predicament.
All three clubs, plus several other big Premier League sides, are all keen on a player who Troy Deeney has praised as his club’s best “by a country mile”.
Matheus Cunha deemed best Wolves player ‘by a country mile’
The player in question is Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, who has been making a real name for himself at Molineux.
TBR Football correspondent Graeme Bailey recently said Cunha is on the radar of Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Cunha was in particularly fine form against Man United on Boxing Day as he scored and assisted to help Wolves run out 2-0 winners at Molineux.
As a result, the Brazil international made Deeney’s Team of the Week on BBC Sport for the second week in a row.
“Back-to-back weeks he’s my number 10,” Deeney wrote of the £63million-rated Wolves ace.
“Wolves’ best player by a country mile, he scored past a very poor Manchester United team – but we all know that anyway.
“If you score from a corner you’re getting in the team of the week.”
Deeney previously wrote on BBC Sport: “No matter what has been going at Wolves, Cunha has been the one player whose level of performance has been consistent.
“The new manager, Vitor Pereira, has come in and got them a great victory against Leicester. I felt they were calm and composed under him.”
Cunha was praised by Man United fans after his heroics on Boxing Day as they called for the club to sign him.
Cunha stance on potential January move
Bailey confirmed earlier this week that Cunha will not try and force a move away from Wolves in January.
TBR Football was informed that his camp have made it clear to Wolves that they won’t be making a push for a January move, despite any interest.
Wolves sources insist that they hope to hold talks with Cunha over a new deal – with current contract due to run until 2027.
