Alisson injury update ahead of Wolves vs Liverpool
The Brazil international has missed the last two games.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has hinted goalkeeper Alisson Becker is ready to make his return from injury against Wolves this weekend.
The Brazil international has missed the last two games with a hamstring niggle but returned to training earlier this week.
No.2 Caoimhin Kelleher hardly put a foot wrong in the wins over Bournemouth and West Ham, but the impending return of the club’s undisputed first choice will come as a welcome boost.
‘We think he is [ready to return],’ confirmed Slot. ‘He trained yesterday part of our session, we expect him to do the whole session today.
‘We’re really happy, but I want to emphasise did really well with the two games with [Kelleher]. Another example of where we have two or three good options in some positions.’
The Reds continued their fine start to life under Slot with a commanding 5-1 win over West Ham in the Carabao Cup in midweek that underlined the firepower Jurgen Klopp’s successor has at his disposal.
Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota both scored twice but are not guaranteed to start at Molineux given the form of Liverpool’s other forwards.
‘For me, it says two things,’ said slot when asked about his fearsome attacking arsenal. ‘The players have a lot of quality and the team are always creating chances for the players that are selected for that game.
‘Because we have so much quality, we can create assists or goals.’
Luis Diaz has probably been the Reds’ player of the season so far and Slot has been delighted by the progress shown by the Colombia international.
He said: ‘A great player of his quality will always score goals.’
