Ally McCoist tells Liverpool to sign Premier League star as Mohamed Salah replacement
Mohamed Salah could leave Liverpool on a free transfer next summer (MI News/NurPhoto/Shutterstock) Ally McCoist believes Liverpool should make a move for West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen if Mohamed Salah leaves Anfield at the end of the season. Salah is set to enter the final six months of his contract with Liverpool and will leave the club on a free transfer next summer if he fails to agree a new deal. The Egypt international dropped another hint that this could be his last season at Liverpool following their 2-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. McCoist insists Liverpool should make it their ‘priority’ to keep Salah but feels Bowen should be the club’s first-choice candidate to replace the 32-year-old. ‘Liverpool should replace Mohamed Salah with Jarrod Bowen if Salah was to leave,’ McCoist told talkSPORT BET. ‘West Ham fans won’t be very happy with me for saying it, he is top class. I really like Bowen. I see a lot of people making comments that he’s too good for West Ham, he’s not too good for West Ham because they’re a great club. ‘He’s good enough to play Champions League football on a consistent basis though, that’s a fact. I really enjoy watching him and he could easily step into that team and play Champions League football. ‘My priority would be keeping Salah, of course, but if he were to move on Liverpool should look at Bowen.’ Jarrod Bowen would be an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah, says Ally McCoist (Getty) McCoist also believes that Trent Alexander-Arnold will opt to leave Liverpool in order to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer. The England international’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and he is yet to agree a new deal with Liverpool. ‘I think Trent Alexander-Arnold will be at Real Madrid next season,’ said McCoist. ‘I hate to say it because I like to see the world’s best players staying in the Premier League and he is one of those. ‘I think if he were to stay, he and Liverpool would’ve come to an agreement over a contract before now to secure his future at the club and the fact he hasn’t makes me think that Real Madrid is where he will be lining up next season.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page.
