String of Premier League and Championship clubs want Manchester United prospect on loan
There is plenty of interest in the teenager.
Manchester United teenager Harry Amass has a number of suitors from the Premier League and Championship, with the Red Devils yet to decider whether they will sanction a loan move in January.
The 17-year-old left-back has been on the fringes of the first team this season, yet to make an appearance in the senior side.
He did impress in pre-season and trained with the first team under Erik ten Hag, sitting on the bench in Premier League, Europa League and Carabao Cup matches.
The teenager has not been training with the first team since Ruben Amorim took over last month and his immediate future is now up for discussion.
The Daily Mail report that the Red Devils are considering letting Amass leave on loan in January, although that decision is yet to be finalised.
If a move is sanctioned then there will be a lot of interest, with the report stating that a host of clubs from the top flight and the second tier are keeping an eye on the promising youngster.
Amass has been capped by England from U15 to U18 level and has played in the EFL Trophy for Manchester United U21 this season.
Former Red Devils manager Ten Hag was clearly impressed with the talented defender and tipped him to make a breakthrough into the first team.
‘He is not that far along now (as Mainoo was) at this moment, but if we train him well, if we coach him well, then in three months it’s possible that he can be at that point,’ Ten Hag said in August.
‘But in this moment he needs to catch up and he has to develop some of the skills needed to play for Manchester United, when we are competing for the highest position in the league.
‘But with big talent it can go very quickly and it is very interesting to see if he is capable of doing this.’
Manchester United do have problems at left-back with Luke Shaw suffering yet another injury setback.
After returning to action under Amorim, the England star posted a concerning update about his latest problem on Tuesday.
‘It’s hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forwards, but unfortunately I’ve had a small setback,’ Shaw said.
‘I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs but this has definitely been my toughest period.
‘I’m absolutely devastated and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.
‘I understand there is gunna be people frustrated, angry, disappointed and I understand all that. There is no one feeling that more than me at this moment in time.
‘But what I can promise is I will do everything I can to come back better soon to help this club achieve its ambitions this season.
‘Thank you to everyone for the support. It really doesn’t go unnoticed and I really do appreciate it.’
