Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has congratulated Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface following his UEFA Champions League debut in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-0 bashing of Feyenoord on Thursday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface has enjoyed a steady rise in the past three seasons. Just four seasons ago, he was playing for Norwegian side Bodo Glimt, but he moved to Royale Union SG in 2022. Then he sealed a transfer to Bayer Leverkusen last year.
Last season, Boniface played an important role for the club, registering 14 goals and nine assists in the run up to their Bundesliga win.
Of course, their title win automatically qualified them for this season’s Champions League. Bayer Leverkusen played their first game of the Champions League at Feyenoord on Thursday, and Boniface was in action.
It was the 23-year-old’s first game in the competition, and he was quite impressive. Boniface was involved in two of Bayer Leverkusen’s goals in his 62 minutes of action.
After the game, the Super Eagles star shared a post on social media talking about how he used to pay to watch the Champions League in Nigeria to playing in the competition himself.
