It’s tough to make head nor tail of the proposed transfer of Mikel Merino to Arsenal at the moment.
One minute, Merino is close to joining Arsenal, the next minute, it’s being reported that the deal isn’t close.
Speaking to The Mirror on YouTube, Ryan Taylor has shared what he knows about this potential transfer.
According to Taylor, there are conflicting stories coming from different stories around this deal.
The journalist says that sources close to the player have said that a verbal offer has gone in from Arsenal, but according to sources within the north London club, that isn’t true.

Conflicting stories emerge about Mikel Merino and Arsenal
Taylor shared what he’s heard from both sides of this story.
“Personal terms have been agreed but as of this moment, Arsenal are yet to submit a formal bid in writing,” Taylor said.
“Sources close to the player disclose that a verbal offer went in. Arsenal say that they haven’t. But I believe a verbal bid has gone in and that is close to the valuation Real Sociedad are looking for.”
Arsenal need to make formal offer
Regardless of whether or not this verbal bid has been made, none of it matters unless Arsenal follow it up with a formal proposal.
At the moment, talks are ongoing between Arsenal and Real Sociedad for Merino, but Arsenal do need to firm things up if they want to get this deal done.
Personal terms are said to be agreed, so this one is moving in the right direction, but, as ever, no deal is done until there is a signature on a contract.
Merino’s camp are led to believe that a verbal bid has gone in, and if that is indeed the case, it surely won’t be long before that is followed up by a formal proposal.
