Aston Villa in positive talks to sign Everton winger - The Athletic

Aston Villa are interested in signing Lewis Dobbin while Everton hold talks to sign Tim Iroegbunam from them this summer, according to The Athletic.

The outlet has reported (19 June) that the Villans have now held “positive talks” over a transfer for the 21-year-old Toffees winger.

Iroegbunam has been linked in a potential £10m switch to Goodison Park [Daily Mail] and The Athletic says this is a “separate transaction”.

Everton could sell Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa

Dobbin has already scored a competitive goal for Everton and could be in line for more game time next season under Sean Dyche.

He has spent one loan spell away from Goodison Park with Derby County and could now be set for a permanent move.

With the PSR problems that Premier League clubs are having to deal with this summer, swap deals are becoming more popular.

Although The Athletic say both deals are separate to one another, it shouldn’t be ruled out that this could see Villa look to do a deal for Iroegbunam which sees them bring Dobbin in while their youngster moves to Goodison Park.

There is no guarantee that Dyche will be happy with that deal given the lack of signings that he may be able to make this summer.

Dobbin may prove to be an important member of the squad next season, especially with his pace and directness off the bench.

It is unclear whether Iroegbunam will join or the winger will leave but the Toffees certainly have a decision on their hands this summer.
