Atletico Madrid appear to be edging ever closer to the blockbuster signing of Artem Dovbyk, who would be the replacement for the recently-departed Alvaro Morata.

Talks have been ongoing between Atleti and Girona over a €40m deal, and it does seem that things are very advanced. Relevo have reported that Dovbyk’s agent is travelling to Madrid on Wednesday to hold further discussions with officials from Los Colchoneros. Over the next few hours, the two clubs will finalise some formal details and then begin to exchange documents, but the decisive meeting is the one with Dovbyk’s agent.
MD have also announced that Dovbyk did not training with his Girona teammates on Wednesday, seemingly in preparation for his move to Atleti.
It’s clear that Dovbyk would be an excellent signing for Atletico Madrid. Last season, they struggled at times to score goals, and his acquisition should help with that – considering that he netted 24 in his debut La Liga campaign.
