Last minute talks did not change that position, and the 32-year-old defender/midfielder will now move on as a free agent, with transfer expert Matteo Moretto claiming Fiorentina are favourites to complete a deal.
Roberto joined Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy aged 14, and made his first team debut in November 2010, going on to make 373 appearances for the club.
He also picked up two UEFA Champions Leagues, seven La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey trophies and two Club World Cups in a stellar career as a trusted and versatile operator for Barcelona.
