Barcelona have been in talks with kit sponsor Nike for many months over a potential new 10-year contract with improved terms, despite having four years left on their current deal. Barcelona have informed La Liga that the agreement could be reached before the transfer window.
Both Sport and MD report that documents have been sent to La Liga to be reviewed and verified in case of the deal going through. While there is no certainty as it stands, most reports say that Barcelona could earn around €90m per year with a signing bonus between €115m and €150m. Were La Liga to ratify a deal, then it could add a significant amount to Barcelona’s salary limit, thus allowing them to spend in the final days of the transfer window. It could also see them move back within their salary limit, and be able to spend without La Liga restrictions.

Most fans will be understood for taking these reports with a pinch of salt, as several times in the past it was been reported that a deal with Nike is imminent. If the Blaugrana can seal a deal with Nike, it could have a dramatic impact on their season and allow them to fill some gaps in their squad, but equally, the options on the market are decreasing.
