Barcelona and Real Madrid have both dipped into the free agent market more in recent years than they had for much of the 21st century, but when it became clear that Jonathan Tah would be available, he was always likely to be courted by Europe’s elite. The Bayer Leverkusen defender is out of contract next summer, and also has Bayern Munich chasing him.
Lamine Yamal won't get to the game vs. Celta Vigo in time. He's out, and his presence against Brest is in doubt, too. Eric García is also set to miss the match. @fansjavimiguel

Tah has decided not to renew his contract with die Werkself, and according to El Chiringuito, Barcelona are ‘very advanced’ in negotiations with the Germany international. They consider him a top opportunity in the transfer market, and as such have decided to make a move.

It should be noted that while they have been considered leading contenders alongside Bayern and Madrid, this is the first time that any reports of actual talks have been reported. Sporting Director Deco recently distanced the Catalan giants from the signing of Tah, but it would not be the first time that a deal has happened that contradicts his public discourse. Tah will not make his decision until 2025.
