'Beautiful...' - Jamie Redknapp wowed by what Everton star did despite loss v Aston Villa

Jamie Redknapp was wowed by the “beautiful” delivery of Dwight McNeil for the second goal as Everton lost 3-2 against Aston Villa.

The Toffees went two goals to the good again, only to lose after goals from Ollie Watkins and a sensational strike by Jhon Duran.

It was McNeil who was the shining light for Sean Dyche though, scoring the opening goal and adding an assist for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking live on Sky Sports at half-time, Redknapp hailed the performance of McNeil despite yet another disappointing defeat.

“Especially with someone like Dwight McNeil who’s got a beautiful left foot, you can look at the goalkeeper, you can look at the defending, sometimes you’ve just got to enjoy it and say what a good delivery this is,” he said.

“When you’ve got someone like Dominic Calvert-Lewin who’s got such a great leap, it’s difficult for the ‘keeper.”

Everton somehow fall to another defeat at Aston Villa

Everton were the far better team in the first 15 minutes against Bournemouth, but it took them longer to get into the game at Villa Park.

Both games against Bournemouth and Villa have seen the Merseyside outfit get their lead, only to throw it away as the game ticked on.

Watkins’ second strike to level the game came within the first 15 minutes of the second half and from that point onwards, Everton were second fiddle.

Dyche’s men started strong with the vast majority of their players seeming to want to make amends, with McNeil at the heart of that throughout, popping up everywhere.

If the club wishes to not be drawn into yet another relegation battle and if Dyche wants to keep his job, things need to change as soon as possible otherwise it could be yet another nail-biting season for Everton’s fans.
