Rangers may not be able to rely on Mahamadou Diarra starting regularly for the first couple of months, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the 18-year-old WSG Tirol striker’s lack of game time last season does not necessarily mean there are red flags ahead of his potential transfer to Ibrox.
This comes after Africa Foot reported on 13 August that Gers have already held talks over personal terms for the Malian striker.
“He did miss quite a few games last season and his minutes on the field were pretty erratic.
“I wouldn’t say that should raise red flags ahead of a transfer but Rangers have to understand where he is physically and not overwork him until he adapts.
“I’d give it a few months before he’s ready to play week in and week out.
“It’s a good thing that he did not sustain any significant injuries as it can be tough at a young age.“
Rangers must avoid Mahamadou Diarra transfer risk
Despite his potential, Diarra’s erratic playing time last season suggests he might not be match-ready for consistent first-team action at Gers, especially in the high-intensity Scottish Premiership.
His youth and lack of consistent game time mean that he’s not quite ready for the rigours of carrying the weight of a side’s goal-scoring burden on his shoulders.
Rangers, needing immediate impact players, might find Diarra’s adaptation period too lengthy and should focus on alternatives.
In other Rangers news, the Ibrox outfit have now been given the green signal to secure the services of an exit-bound Premier League player.
