Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has been spotted ‘liking’ a comment on social media that suggests he’s looking for a way out of the club.
The 27-year-old, along with Raheem Sterling and Carney Chukwuemeka, was frozen out by new manager Enzo Maresca over the summer as the club made every effort to move him on.
A move failed to materialise, however, and the left-back was reintegrated into the first team by Maresca ahead of their busy 2024-25 campaign.
He may be training, but he’s not playing—Chilwell has made just one appearance this season, coming on at half-time during Chelsea’s 5-0 League Cup win over Barrow.
Ben Chilwell looking to end Chelsea nightmare
Signed by Frank Lampard for £50million back in 2020, Chilwell was made vice-captain by Mauricio Pochettino at the start of last season.
Unfortunately, persistent injury issues have all but ended his Chelsea career, missing 107 games for club and country since making the move to West London.
Clearly unhappy with his situation at the club, Chilwell liked a comment on his most recent Instagram post that suggested he was looking for an ‘exit strategy’.
Chilwell remains under contract with the club until July 2027 but a swift departure would suit both parties with his return to the starting XI looking unlikely.
Maresca has Chelsea firing, sitting third in the Premier League with 19 points from their first 11 games and leading the Europa Conference League group phase.
