Everton fans have noticed a popular comment reaction from Ben Godfrey towards his former teammate Dele Alli on the latter’s Instagram post.
Dele shared on his official page [10 December] a series of training posts, including a superb strike on the training pitch, which flew into the top corner.
Godfrey, who left Goodison Park in the summer to join Atalanta but has barely played for the Serie A side, showed his support for the 28-year-old who last played for the Toffees in the 2022-23 season and is training with the club while no longer under contract.
Under Dele’s post – captioned “Create it” – Godfrey simply shared a blue heart emoji, indicating he remains close with his former teammate and is helping support his journey back onto the pitch.
Everton intend to welcome back Dele Alli
Despite Dele’s contract with Everton expiring last summer, he continues to rehabilitate at the club following a long-term groin injury and the personal setbacks he has made it through.
Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell appear open to welcoming the midfielder back to the squad, who still has plenty of years in the tank despite having been around the senior scene for over a decade.
The post from Dele demonstrates the hard work he is putting in to getting back on the field, the next time of which could end up at the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.
Bryan King was recently among those to remind Dele that without being able to prove his match sharpness, robustness and the “ability to be involved in games”, he could find himself coasting in the Toffees’ Under-21 side or in the non-league game.
For a 37-cap England international once universally branded world-class and who was influencing games on a weekly basis in the Premier League and Europe, the belief among the player and all his supporters is that he can return to his very best one day.
In other Everton news, Sean Dyche will have plenty on his mind amid injury news coming out of Arsenal.
